J.C. Harrington - FM Global, 2018 SFPE International President

Description

SFPE International President J.C. Harrington will provide an update on the strategic plans and goals of SFPE International.  This “State of the Union” for the direction of Fire Protection Engineering is a don’t miss event.

Biography

J.C. Harrington is a Staff Vice President with FM Global working in the Engineering Standards Department in Norwood, MA.  He is responsible for several of their construction fire hazards related standards, oversees risk service testing for their insurance clients, provides training on construction related subjects, and represents the company on building code issues. Earlier in his career he had worked for 10 years for Wang Laboratories as their Corporate Fire Protection/Safety/Environmental Manager.  He holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Tufts University and an MS in Engineering Management from Northeastern University.  Harrington is a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), and the International Code Council (ICC). He is a member of several NFPA technical committees including the NFPA 5000 Building Code. He served two terms on the NFPA Standards Council.  He is a Past President of the New England Chapter- SFPE and is currently 2018 President for SFPE International.  He is a Fellow of SFPE and is a registered Fire Protection Engineer (PE) in the State of Massachusetts.  Additionally, he holds a US patent on corrosion resistant duct nozzle fire protection.
