Welcome to your new Wild Apricot website

Thank you to all our 2019 Symposium attendees and sponsors for supporting a great event. A special thank you to the Planning Committee for all their hard work! Make sure to reach out to Chris Reimer for any suggestions you may have for the 2020 event!

What is this event?

SFPE's SoCal Chapter holds the annual event for the purpose of funding an academic scholarship as well as providing its members professional development. The day-long event is designed to address a variety of interesting and new topics relating to engineering solutions to fire protection problems.

A variety of presentations are provided in the morning and afternoon, with plenty of time in between to network with professional peers. Exhibitors will display their latest technologies and are available for consultation!

Who can sponsor the event?

Any company can sponsor the event! We have plenty of spaces available for a wide range of different types of sponsorship level.

Sponsors and exhibitors are always advertised leading up to the event and are featured during the event as well.

See more information below on how to become a sponsor or an exhibitor.

2019 Presentation Topics

Topics from the 2019 event included energy storage systems, automated retrieval systems in warehouses and how to protect them, new technology in fire alarms, 3D printed buildings and their associated hazards, ESFR sprinkler obstruction criteria, and a 2019 California Buildings Code significant changes update.

The Southern California Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) has issued a call for presentations on cutting-edge fire safety and fire protection practice and tools for its 2020 SoCal Fire Protection Engineering Symposium & Expo to be scheduled in early October, 2020 in Southern California. This is the premier annual educational event for professionals who use science and technology to make our world safe from fire.

Presentations will be selected based on quality and relevance to advancing fire safety and fire protection engineering practice.   Consideration will also be given to the breadth of knowledge and experience of the presenter. Abstracts should provide sufficient details regarding the demand for and the description of the subject topic to determine the quality and applicability of the fire safety concepts that would be presented.  Presentations will be approximately 30-45 minutes in length and should not be about a particular product.

Selected presenters will join other leaders in the fire protection profession to create a unique educational experience in Southern California, where the newest fire safety technologies will be exhibited.  Submit your abstract and resume to webmaster@sfpeSoCal.org with the subject line “2020 Symposium Abstract.”  The submittal deadline is June 1, 2020. FPE Symposium Call For Presentations 11-1-2019.pdf

There are two different ways to help support the upcoming 2020 Symposium event. Companies can sign up to become an exhibitor or a sponsor of the event. See below for more information and details for your options.

Exhibitors - The table top exhibits will be set up in the same room where the presentations will be given, providing face time with the attendees throughout the day. Flyers for the event will be distributed to encourage attendance by architects, engineers, construction specifiers, fire prevention officers and building officials. Exhibits include a 6 foot skirted table and two chairs. Electrical power is not specifically provided. Pricing is based on the number of persons per exhibit: one person $400 and two persons $500. Tables are on a first come bases and will be assigned the morning of the event. Exhibit set up is begins two hours before the start of the event. Tear down will be after the event concludes.

Sponsors Sponsorships are also available. Sponsors will be acknowledged with graphics at the event as well as on the event agenda. Get your brand in front of this audience and support students in Fire Protection Engineering.  The Morning or Afternoon Break can be sponsored for $1,000. The Continental Breakfast is sponsored for $1,500 while Lunch is available for a $5,000 sponsor fee.
