We are seeking an ICC certified Fire Plans Examiner or Fire Protection Engineer with in-depth knowledge of California Fire Code/International Fire Code, Fire Sprinkler, Fire Alarm Standards and the California Building Code/International Building Code. Reporting to a Regional Group Leader, this role, as part of our Fire Protection Design Services, provides fire protection engineering consulting services to include fire sprinkler, fire suppression, fire detection and alarm, and mass notification systems design for new and existing facilities including aircraft hangars, high-rise office buildings, dormitories, federal facilities, hospitals, laboratories, museums, and warehouses; as well as consulting for life safety, building, and fire code compliance. Work with an in-house staff of architects and engineers to coordinate fire protection systems in an integrated BIM working environment while considering client concerns for project costs and construction schedules. Planning and design details including engineering concepts, distribution plans, riser diagrams, detail drawings, schedules, specifications, design analysis, and engineering reports. Occasional on-site project observations and reviews; duties required to fulfill contractual obligations for construction phase services; overseeing other personnel assigned to this responsibility. Responsibilities include providing general mechanical, electrical and structural technician services, coordinating and administering facility and building equipment inspections, repairs, preventative maintenance work and tenant improvements. Will handle all permits pertaining to the building, environment and safety activities for HPD. The Consultant is responsible for performing design calculations, sketches, technical comparisons, and similar technical work as required by assignment. The Consultant takes responsibility for developing performance-based engineering, fire modeling analyses, and fire alarm and fire suppression systems. In addition, the Consultant supports project review and reporting as well as contributing to business development and marketing under the direction of the Group Director. Working with some supervision, the Consultant is accountable for assisting in engineering deliverables working with fellow tk1sc staff. Requirements: - Entry-Level/Intermediate knowledge of fire protection discipline/department for low-level complexity projects. - Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Engineering - Entry-Level/Intermediate knowledge and understanding of NFPA, International/California Building and Fire Codes, and FM Global Standards. -Executes directions as provided by engineers and management but is comfortable in making engineering decisions on a discipline-specific level. Has the ability to identify appropriate solutions based upon several different data. -Performs coordination by reviewing drawings supplied by vendors, other team engineers, and architects while implementing design modifications as necessary. -Assists engineers and management by providing input on discipline-specific resource staffing allocations to meet business needs. - Identifies and applies creative thinking and innovation that adds value at the discipline level -Effectively writes and verbally communicates concepts and ideas, both internally and externally.
