Description:
The pharmaceutical and extraction industries have proliferated with unprecedented growth in California and nationally in recent times. Elley will give an overview of Fire Code’s hazardous materials provisions and then delve into some of the nuances and intricacies involved with these two prolific industries. Some notable incidents will be discussed and innovative solutions she has worked on.
Biography:
Elley founded and serves as President of Klausbruckner and Associates since 1997 specializing in hazardousmaterials, high-piled storage, general code consulting, to name a few. Since her appointment by the Governor in2014, Elley serves as the FPE Commissioner on the California Building Standards Commission. She has also served on several fire and building code committees with the IFC and the NFPA 13 Sprinkler System Discharge Criteria Committee. Elley has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and master’s degree in FPE from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Since 1998 Elley authored a plethora of publications including one the chapters in the SFPE’s 3rd edition Reference Manual for PE Exam in FPE, the 1st edition Application Guide to High-Piled Storage, co-authored ICC’s 2000 IFC Commentary on Chapter 15, flammable finishes, for the 2005/2006 code cycle she co-authored a re-write of IFC Chapter 15, Flammable Finishes, and authored the re-write of the 2022 IFC Chapter 22, Combustible Dust. Dedicated to sharing knowledge she is a frequent presenter, and has been recognized for her contributions in 2011 and again in 2015 as Fire Prevention Educator of the Year by the San Diego County Fire Chiefs’ Fire Prevention Officers Section.
